First off all future basses will come with satin finishes. Gloss finishes will no longer be an option. No exceptions. Satin finishes are becoming more popular and are much easier on the builder, leaving more time and attention for other serious aspects of bass building. We feel that a satin finish also offers a more classy look to the instrument and will allow us to produce a more consistent product from bass to bass. You will still get that same nice, smooth, high quality finish, but it just won’t be shiny. Solid colors, bursts, tints and dye jobs will still be available, but will have satin top coats. All basses currently under construction that are slated for a gloss finish will receive them as quoted.
Secondly, Hipshot bridges and tuners will become standard on all models. All future basses will come standard with a chrome Hipshot “B” style bridge and chrome Hipshot Ultralite tuners. Options for Hipshot “A” style bridges, as well as black and gold hardware will be available. Gotoh tuners and our previous standard bridge will no longer be available. The only exception will be with our TRX model. It will continue to come standard with ABM single saddle bridge rails.
Thirdly, three piece quartersawn maple necks will become a standard on four and five string bolt-on neck models. This has already been a standard feature on six string bolt-on neck models and all set-neck models. Quality flatsawn maple is becoming harder to find. We’ve always recommended going with the three piece quartersawn neck anyway and most customers follow our advice. It only makes sense to offer it as a standard feature. Other multi-laminate neck options will still be available.
Minor changes to our starting prices have gone into effect that include these current changes. Our policy has been that written quotes are valid for 30 days. Due to the rapid implementation of these current changes we will not honor any previous quotes. All quotes will have to be re-written to reflect these current changes. All re-written quotes and future quotes will be valid for 30 days.
